Fingerprint Cards launches a new thinner fingerprint sensor
FPC1011F3 boasts industry’s best protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD)
Fingerprint Cards is today launching a new area sensor, FPC1011F3. Compared with its predecessors, the new FPC1011F3 has thinner design and offers increased protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD). It now has the industry’s best ESD resistance. FPC1011F3 is in mass production and has already been chosen in high volumes by all major FPC customers.
The thinner design has been developed to further facilitate the integration of the low-power-consumption area sensor into small embedded biometric products, such as bank tokens and USB keys. Robustness is important in many applications and FPC1011F3 withstands an electrostatic discharge of ± 30 kV. The ability to handle high ESD discharges is very important to ensuring long life for electronic components.
FPC1011F3 is manufactured in the same production facility as FPC’s existing area sensor with its qualified production methods, thus ensuring very high product quality with very few customer returns.
Christian Skeppstedt, Product Manager at Fingerprint Cards says :-
“We at FPC are constantly endeavouring to improve our products and to always be at the cutting edge in the biometric technology field. Our launch of FPC1011F3 emphasizes our intent to continue to invest in both area and swipe sensors. Area and swipe sensors complement each other by targeting different customer segments and both products are needed for FPC’s continued success. The launch of FPC1011F3 is a key step in continuing to have competitive products and in maintaining FPC’s dominant market position in, for example, the Chinese banking industry.”
Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC) markets, develops and produces biometric components and technologies that through the analysis and matching of an individual’s unique fingerprint verify the person’s identity. The technology consists of biometric sensors, processors, algorithms and modules that can be used separately or in combination with each other. The competitive advantages offered by the FPC’s technology include unique image quality, extreme robustness, low power consumption and complete biometric systems. With these advantages and the ability to achieve extremely low manufacturing costs, the technology can be implemented in volume products such as smart cards and mobile phones, where extremely rigorous demands are placed on such characteristics. The company’s technology can also be used in IT and Internet security, access control, etc.
