The MLX90242 is a linear hall effect sensor IC fabricated from silicon-CMOS technology and posesses active error correction circuitry which virtually eliminates the offset errors normally associated with analog Hall Effect devices.
The ratiometric output voltage is proportional to the supply voltage, so when using the supply voltage as a reference for an A-to-D Converter, fluctuations of +10% in supply voltage will not affect accuracy.
In the UA package, the voltage at the output will increase as a South-pole magnetic field is applied to the marked side. Similarly, the voltage output will decrease in the presence of a North-pole magnetic field.
The SO package is magnetically reversed from the UA package, therefore a North-pole magnetic field will increase the output votage and a South-pole magnetic field will decrease the output voltage.
